Leland Klassen started performing comedy in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1995. When Leland began, there was no such thing as a 'Christian Comedian' where he was from. So as a Christian with the desire to be the best stand-up comedian possible, he searched out a variety of offbeat venues, such as comedy clubs, community centers and theaters, to hone his craft. Without compromising his beliefs, Leland set out to be the funniest and cleanest act in Canada, and after years of hard work and perseverance, he gained the reputation of being just that. His stand-up comedy work began to open other doors, such as radio and television, in Canada and the United States. Still a relative newcomer to the scene, Leland continues to leave audiences everywhere in stitches.
Along his career path, Leland realized that he had also been given a great platform to speak to audiences both on and offstage about his experiences and relationship with Christ. Whether he is sharing his testimony or weaving the Gospel through his hilarious act, Leland has the ability to do so in a comfortable, non-threatening manner that is perfect for outreach events. And he is never afraid to be a Christian in the comedy world because he has taken his act to a new level, a level where all barriers are eliminated. Leland draws his outrageous physical humor from family life, the foibles found in everyday situations, and a unique personal upbringing.
Although his first love in comedy will always be live stand-up, Leland is increasingly becoming a familiar face as a television personality, producer, actor and comedy writer. He has appeared in a pilot for a CBC sitcom, has written and performed for CBC Radio, appeared in the Just for Laughs comedy festival twice, and has started a television career on such channels as NOWTV and YTV in Canada. After only two years with NOWTV, Leland was named Broadcast Performer of Tomorrow. There is a reason that producers and executives are starting to take notice of Leland: he is likeable, clean and most of all, funny.
